Tring Market Place
Tring Town Council has re-developed the old cattle market site in Brook Street as Tring Market Place. The Council and Tring Together held Opening Celebrations on 9 and 10 September 2005, ensuring that Tring Market Place got off to a lively and bustling start.
The regular Friday Charter Market took place on the new site for the first time on Friday 9 September; for more information about becoming a Charter Market stallholder, contact Bray Associates on 01895 639912.
On Saturday 10 September, Tring's Mayor, Cllr. Mike James, officially declared the market site open, followed by the regular Farmers' Market, a truly local market. It takes place on alternate Saturdays (Tring Market Auction sale days) from 09:00 - 12:00; see the Tring Farmers' Market website for more information.
Plans for a new local museum in Tring organised by Tring and District Local History and Museum Society were on display for the first time.
'The launch of Tring Market Place is the start of a new and exciting opportunity to promote and encourage all forms of market trading to Tring' said Cllr. Peter Coneron. 'Other uses for the site, when not in use by the Friday Charter Market and Farmers Market, are now being explored. Continental Markets, Craft Fairs, Local Voluntary and Community Groups, Schools, Commercial Groups and use for Special Events will all be considered. Working together we aim to make the Market Place a vibrant focal point of Tring.'
The use of the Market Place for such events is subject to the Tring Market Place: Protocol for Use; to book the Market Place, please contact the Clerk's assistant. Below is a view of Tring Market Place, showing the size and scope of the site; Brook Street is in the foreground.
